The aim of the severity study is to provide an epidemiological description of bites, bitten individuals and the dog that bit them; to determine dog bite severity factors from data collected at the emergency departments (victim age and gender, dog characteristics, connection between victim and dog, etc.); and data collected on the development and impact of the bite at one month. The study may also help chart aggression in dogs who bite, describe encountered behaviour sequences and to establish a bite risk level. Finally, the sequelae study may help describe sequelae number and type, as well as disabilities caused by dog bites, 16 months after the incident.
