Additional information regarding sample selection. Participants were recruited by two-stage random sampling (food aid structures then users) in the population using food aid structures from clusters in Marseilles, Dijon, Paris and its suburbs (Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne). 6,071 food aid users were approached to participate in the study in 2011-2012. 1,493 were not eligible.
Database objective
Main objective To describe sociodemographic and economic profiles, dietary habits (food supplies, food aid use and frequency of consumption) and nutritional status of food aid users in 2004-2005 and 2011-2012.
Inclusion criteria Individuals who recently received food aid from a distribution structure located in Marseilles, Dijon, Paris, as well as the départements of Seine-Saint-Denis and Hauts-de-Seine (only 2011-2012), and Val-de-Marne (only 2011-2012), aged 18 or over and capable of understanding the aims of the study (sufficient knowledge of French).

Procedures
Data collection method Data collection was carried out in person by dieteticians in food aid structures. Clinical and biological tests were introduced and conducted at second stage in a National Health Insurance examination centre (Marseilles, Dijon, Paris and Seine-Saint-Denis) or in a municipal health centre (Hauts-de-Seine and Val-de-Marne). Collections were carried out during the 2004-2005 and 2011-2012 winter campaigns from food aid structures.
Classifications used Sociodemographic: short questionnaires and INSEE classification. Nutritional status, cardiovascular markers: international definitions.
