Disclaimer

Contributors register on the Epidemiology – France portal and describe their studies or databases on a voluntary basis under their own responsibility. They may modify their personal information or the outline form for their database at any time, or ask for it to be withdrawn from the portal's catalog.

Contributors must comply with the architecture of the outline form and complete all compulsory fields; they must submit a request to the Portal Administrator to have their forms published in the Portal’s catalog.

Publication is dependent on controls conducted by the Portal Administrator:

• control of consistency concerning the information describing the database; 
• control of the compatibility of the field covered by the database with the Portal's scope (scope being health and epidemiological or related approaches);
• control of compliance with legal requirements (declaration of the database to the CNIL (French data protection body) and, if applicable, Ethics Committee authorization number in the event of an interventional protocol).

Inserm cannot guarantee the accuracy, precision or exhaustive nature of the information available on the site to its visitors. Listing of a database in the Portal in no way constitutes a label of quality awarded by Inserm. Inserm declines all responsibility for the way the information available on the site is used by visitors to the site. In addition, Inserm makes no commitment relative to the websites that can be accessed from its own site and, in particular, accepts no responsibility for their content. Furthermore, any risks related to the use of these websites are the full responsibility of the internet user, particularly those linked to the existence of viruses or any other destructive parasites.

The information presented on the website is non-contractual in nature and may be modified or removed from the portal’s catalog at any time on the initiative of contributors or the Portal administrator.

The entire website is covered by French and international legislation relative to copyright and intellectual property. The content, including that of downloadable documents and graphic and photographic images, displayed or available on the website is protected by intellectual property law, on the condition that it is original, and is the exclusive property of Inserm, apart from data submitted by contributors. Consequently, copying, translation, reproduction, sale, publication, use and distribution of site content protected by intellectual property law is prohibited without the prior written permission of said owners.

It is possible to make a single copy of all or part of the site’s content, for backup purposes or for the purposes of a paper print-out. However, this is only authorized for strictly personal, private and non-collective use.

The reproduction of texts from this site on paper format is also authorized, particularly in an educational or school setting, as long as the following three conditions are met:

• The information is distributed free of charge
• The documents are reproduced in full: no modification or alteration of any kind without the express permission of the publication manager for the organization’s site.

Database

The Epidemiology-France database is a database in accordance with the articles L341-1 and subsequent articles of French intellectual property law, produced by Inserm. The following are prohibited without a prior license:

• Any extraction or reuse of a quantitatively or qualitatively substantial part of the site’s content
• Any extraction or repeated reuse of a non-quantitatively or qualitatively substantial part of the site’s content when these operations manifestly exceed normal conditions of use of the database

Permission requests

Permission requests must be submitted to the secretarial department of the Epidemiology-France portal. The request must specify the content in question, as well as the site on which it will be included. In addition, the information may only be used for personal, educational, associative or professional purposes, with any distribution or use for commercial or advertising purposes being excluded.

Contributors and visitors are required to communicate personal data to Inserm when they register on and/or use the Epidemiology portal. This personal data consists of:

1. information communicated to Inserm when visiting the site and/or registering on it (Surname, First name, Address, email, position, organization, address, login, password), it being specified that this information will not be made public and will only be used by Inserm for the purposes of managing the site.
2. information contained in the documents submitted by contributors (surname, first name, work or home email address, work telephone number, country or city worked in, title/grade, training, qualifications, career background and current situation, scientific abstract, research topics), it being specified that this information is made public.

The site complies with French regulations relative to computing, computer files and freedom of information, as defined by amended French law 78-17.
