Study on Dog Bite Severity and Sequelae

The aim of the severity study is to provide an epidemiological description of bites, bitten individuals and the dog that bit them; to determine dog bite severity factors from data collected at the emergency departments (victim age and gender, dog characteristics, connection between victim and dog, etc.); and data collected on the development and impact of the bite at one month. The study may also help chart aggression in dogs who bite, describe encountered behaviour sequences and to establish a bite risk level. Finally, the sequelae study may help describe sequelae number and type, as well as disabilities caused by dog bites, 16 months after the incident.

DROWNING (NOYADES) Surveys in 2001 (test), 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2015

- To identify the number of drownings that required hospitalisation or resulted in death, according to the location and drowning circumstances (accidental, suicide, assault);
- To describe characteristics of the victims;
- To record the drowning severity (drowning stage) and outcome for victims;
- To describe the activities and circumstances when drowning occurred;
- To study the trends in accidental drownings in relation to previous years;
- "To provide qualitative elements of evaluation of the efficiency of safety devices of private swimming pool.

Survey on unintentional falls from heights Among Children Under 15 Years Old in Ile-de-France, Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur

Main objective of 2013 survey:
• To measure the frequency of accidental falls from heights among children in Île-de-France, Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur between 15 March and 15 October 2013.

Secondary objectives of the 2013 survey:
• To identify circumstances surrounding accidental falls from heights during the survey period and possible trends since 2006;
• To assess requirements in terms of preventing falls from heights among children and to advise responsible stakeholders on building safety regulations.
• To provide epidemiological findings on falls from heights that are linked to other causes (suicide, assault, unknown origin).

Continuous Survey on Home and Leisure injuries (HLA)

The main objective of the Continuous Survey on Home and Leisure injuries is to provide descriptive, detailed, accurate and current results on the number and characteristics of home and leisure accidents (HLA) occurring in France and involving the use of emergency hospital care, including the product(s) implicated in the accident, the location of the accident, the activity when the accident occurred and the accident mechanism.
Initially implemented in 1986 as part of a European framework under the name EHLASS (European home and leisure accident surveillance system), the French section of the European IDB (Injury Data Base) surveillance network was formed in recent years.
