In each participating country, institutions were randomly selected, then from among these institutions, classes were selected (Random two-stage cluster sample (institutions then class)). In addition in France, stratification was applied according to the following criteria: -INSEE commune type from four commune categories (rural, isolated town, suburbs, center of a built-up area), - public/private status |

Main objective |
The objectives of this survey are to follow the changes in certain behaviors, but also to build promotion strategies for health and to influence health policies in favor of young people. The international and multidisciplinary dimension of the survey is an undisputed wealth of information for understanding the behaviors and lifestyles of young Frenchmen. The HBSC survey follows a research protocol that is common to all of the countries, in order to standardize the sampling and data collection methods as much as possible. |
Inclusion criteria | For the French portion: students ages 11 to 15 years schooled in metropolitan France from CM2 level to the first year of high school (general, technological and professional), in public institutions and private ones under contract. |
