Informations complémentaires concernant la constitution de l'échantillon | Prospective Inclusion cut-off date: 01/12/2010. Details concerning this number: 651 and 522 subjects were examined respectively in both centres in Grenoble and Paris at enrolment in 1990/92. Respectively 433 and 423 (856 in total) of these subjects were assessed during a 9-year follow-up between 2000 and 2001. These subjects will be contacted again for follow-up in 2010. The expected participation rate is 60-70% (520-640 subjects). Subjects from the same age range will also be included in a new phase that will be carried out at the same time as the initial cohort follow-up. It is anticipated that a new sample of 250 men and 250 women will be examined per centre, with nearly 1,000 new subjects for both centres. As such, a total of about 1,500 subjects is expected. The Grenoble and Paris centres will merge their records for national analyses. However, the majority of analyses will be conducted with international data. A total sample (initial cohort + new sample) of at least 13,000 subjects between 40 to 64 years old will be available from a total of 24 centres. This includes almost 3,000 subjects with asthma, for cross-sectional analysis, and a sample of at least 8,800 subjects, with questionnaire data and lung function measurements over a 10-year period. |
Objectif de la base de données | |
Objectif principal | General objective: To investigate the changes in lung function as well as the onset and development of allergic and non-allergic asthma and chronic obstructive bronchopneumopathy (COBP) in adults as they age. Secondary objectives: - To study the onset and development of respiratory allergies and COBP in men and women from the general population, and to research associations with lifestyle and environmental factors, taking into account interactions between these factors and other personal and biological determinants. - To research associations with sensitisation to allergens (atopy), respiratory allergies, accelerated lung function decline and the development of COBP. - To investigate the natural history of allergic and non-allergic asthma (incidence, remission, severity) according to age and gender. - To evaluate the effects of obesity and importance of weight loss and physical activity on asthma severity and decline in lung function, as well as investigate the role of sex hormones and hormones linked to obesity such as leptin. |
