Additional information regarding sample selection. Subjects were selected from a first-year primary school class in a town in Hauts-de-Seine. Subjects will be reassessed 1 year later at the end of CE1 (second year of primary school).
Database objective
Main objective To analyse the specific short- and long-term effects of a computerised graphic and audiovisual written language training programme for grapheme-phoneme correspondence learning, as well as the development of reading, transcription and cognitive capacities involved in acquiring written language proficiency.

Data collection method Individual screening protocol at the end of CP (June 2001), conducted in schools by speech therapists who assessed certain linguistic and cognitive skills (lexical access, auditory memory, oral comprehension, syntactic sensitivity, phonological awareness), as well as written language. Assessment at end of CE1 (June 2002) was collectively undertaken in classes through three experimental spelling tests that were dictated by teachers.
