Cases are recorded by firefighters, SAMU (Emergency Medical Assistance Service), emergency physicians, paediatricians and healthcare professionals who encounter cases of victims who fell from windows or a significant height. |

Main objective |
Main objective of 2013 survey:
• To measure the frequency of accidental falls from heights among children in Île-de-France, Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur between 15 March and 15 October 2013. Secondary objectives of the 2013 survey: • To identify circumstances surrounding accidental falls from heights during the survey period and possible trends since 2006; • To assess requirements in terms of preventing falls from heights among children and to advise responsible stakeholders on building safety regulations. • To provide epidemiological findings on falls from heights that are linked to other causes (suicide, assault, unknown origin). |
Inclusion criteria |
The following criteria should be adhered to:
• Children under 15 years of age; • All falls from an access point (windows, skylights, balconies, etc.) and/or from a significant height; • Falls occurring in Île-de-France, Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur for the 2006 and 2013 surveys and in Ile-de-France for the 2005 survey. • Occurring between 15 March and 15 October for the 2006 and 2013 survey, and between 01 May and 30 September for the 2005 survey. |

Collection includes three questionnaires: • Procedure Questionnaire for rescue organisations with 36 questions • Clinical Questionnaire with 40 questions to be completed by the medical team in charge of patient treatment • Social Questionnaire with 23 questions for collecting data on the child and family's sociodemographic environment; completed by healthcare professionals in contact with the family (social workers, psychologists, physicians, etc.) |
