Additional information regarding sample selection. | Children in good health, born between 1984 and 1985 and recruited throughout Child Health Assessment Clinics. |
Database objective | |
Main objective | To test the hypothesis that feeding during the first years of life is critical to developing the risk of obesity and metabolic diseases in adulthood. To analyse consumption trends according to age while investigating the influence of dietary habits on food choices as an adult. To investigate the influence of physical activity on growth measurements. To identify growth trends (trajectories, growth rates) associated with future risks. |

Data collection method | Information on breastfeeding was collected and nutritional intake was assessed at the age of 10 months and 2 years, then every two years up to the age of 20. Several measurements were taken at 20 years old, including height, weight and body composition (lean body mass and body fat measured using impedancemetry). 74 subjects were examined in adult health clinics at 20 years old. Biological tests were used, for example, to assess hormone status (leptin, ghrelin and growth factors). |
