Additional information regarding sample selection. Consecutive patients who are at least 18 years old and admitted to a public or private French hospital (531 centres) for hip fracture surgery were recruited prospectively during 2 months in 2002 and monitored for 6 months.
Database objective
Main objective To determine the risk of venous thromboembolism in patients with a hip fracture.
