Database objective | |
Main objective |
The aim of this project is to understand homeless people’s relationship to hygiene and identify the obstacles they encounter in taking care of their personal hygiene, whether practical or personal, as well as the consequences on their health, particularly with regard to their skin, and the ectoparasitosis control strategies put in place by health facilities and the people themselves.
The first objective is therefore to identify by a closed questionnaire the practices and help given to homeless people for taking care of their hygiene. The second objective is to estimate the prevalence of scabies and pediculosis through an individual dermatological examination; to estimate the seroprevalence of Bartonella quintana infection; the risk factors for these different diseases will also be identified. The prevalence of fungal and bacterial infections on the feet will also be measured. The third objective is to identify practices to prevent the transmission of these ectoparasitoses in the reception and accommodation centres and their treatment conditions. |
Inclusion criteria |
Respondents are homeless people receiving assistance services and those housed in outdoor camp sites (woods, parks, peripheral embankments, etc.).
A person is included if during the five days prior to the interview he/she slept in a place not intended as a dwelling or was taken care of by an organisation providing free or low-cost accommodation. Among the selected individuals, only the following were retained, those who: -understand French; -are able to understand the content and imperatives of the study; -have given their informed consent. |
