| Additional information regarding sample selection. | ESCAPEg cohort consisted of patients recruited from a random sample of general practitioners in the Aquitaine region. ESCAPEc cohort consisted of patients recruited from a sample of physicians practicing in three participating hydrotherapy spas (Dax, Saint-Paul-lès-Dax, Eugenie-les-Bains). |

| Main objective | The main objective of this study was to develop a reference statistical model predictive of the average cost per patient of the lower limb osteoarthrosis in the general population (ESCAPEg) and in those treated by spa therapy (ESCAPEc), and to identify the main determinants. |
| Inclusion criteria | Patient with tibiofemoral osteoarthrosis and / or patellofemoral uni and / or bilateral, and / or hip osteoarthrosis and uni / or bilateral; aged more than 20 years; Patient affiliated personally to the Caisse Nationale de l’Assurance Maladie des Travailleurs Salariés (CNAM-TS) for at least six months; Patient giving written informed consent for participatation in the study and to extract the patient data from the ERASME database of the CNAM-TS. |

| Data collection method | During inclusion consultation, a medical questionnaire was completed by the physician. Specifically for the ESCAPEc cohort, physicians were helped by a hydrotherapy CRA when filling-out the medical questionnaire. At follow-up, data collection was identical in both cohorts: patients were followed by a CRA for six months (telephone questionnaire at 3 and 6 months), patients also completed two forms collecting healthcare data. |

| Details on monitoring of participants | Patients were contacted at 3 and 6 months for telephone interview with a CRA. The telephone questionnaire was standardised (quality and living conditions, environment, assessment of pain, work and daily tasks, self determined health status). Their consumption of healthcare, and other health products, was also collected using two standardised forms (one for the first three months and one for the last three months of follow-up) that patients filled-out in real time. |

| Terms of data access (charter for data provision, format of data, availability delay) | A final study report was submitted to the Institute of hydrotherapy. The final study report and scientific communications (posters, papers, ...) were validated by the study Scientific Committee. Ownership of study data is the subject of an agreement between the University Bordeaux Segalen and the Institute of hydrotherapy. Terms for third-party access to the database are to be defined. |
