Additional information regarding sample selection. We conducted a three-tiered random survey:
- First tier: draw of the facilities listed according to their size, in each defined stratum (depending on the type of structure, its catchment area and the distance to the nearest train station, see below);
- Second tier: draw of families in the list of eligible households (developed on site);
- Third tier: draw of children under 13 years of age among children aged 0 to 12 years included in the family (having agreed to participate in the survey)
Database objective
Main objective The objectives of the ENFAMS survey:
- estimate the size of the population of families without housing in Île-de-France and describe their sociodemographic characteristics;
- characterise the living conditions, history and state of health of these families; 2
- describe the state of health of mothers and children on three main lines: use of health care, mental health, nutritional health, perinatal health;
- comparing the prevalence and results obtained with other studies carried out among homeless populations, precarious populations or the general population;
- describe the impact of homelessness on the daily and social lives of parents and children, focusing in particular on the matter of schooling.
Inclusion criteria Families without housing (housed in emergency accommodation centres, in accommodation and social reintegration centres, in state-provided hotels, or in a reception centre for asylum seekers).
To participate in the survey, they must have at least one child under the age of thirteen, and speak one of the 17 languages of the study.
Each eligible family, willing to participate in the study, was met twice, in their housing centre
