Additional information regarding sample selection. Sampling plan: The 2007 census is used as the sampling frame to form the TeO sample. However, unlike immigrants, descendants of immigrants are not directly identifiable in the census. In fact, the census does not include variables providing information on parents’ origin (place of birth or nationality). Therefore, an additional information source was required in order to select individuals that should be surveyed a priori as descendants of natives, immigrants or natives from overseas départements. As such, the formation of the TeO survey sample relies on a complex matching operation between census data, the permanent demographic sample and the civil registry. The names and addresses of the individuals to be surveyed were extracted from the census; information on the individuals’ ancestry (parents’ place of birth) was obtained from the EDP and the civil registry.
Database objective
Main objective The main objective of this survey is to describe the living conditions and social trajectories of different populations (immigrants, descendants of immigrants born in France, natives from overseas départements and descendants of these natives born in mainland France, as well as native descendants of natives); to investigate their access to resources and to describe their integration trajectory, regardless of orgin.
Inclusion criteria The scope of the survey includes people living in an ordinary household in mainland France. The sampling frame consists of individuals surveyed in 2007 and living in a master sample municipality. Immigrants and descendants of natives aged between 18 and 59 years old and descendants of immigrants aged between 18 and 49 years old were selected.
