Database objective
Main objective This survey's objectives are to:
- find out the main health condition indicators, medical practices
during pregnancy and delivery and perinatal risk factors; it will
thus be possible to monitor their trends from previous national surveys
(1995, 1998 and 2003);
- provide a national sample with which it is possible to compare
département or regional data from other sources;
- provide information for guiding public health decisions and evaluate
health actions in the perinatal field.
Inclusion criteria All children born alive, still born and therapeutic abortions, if the birth or pregnancy termination takes place at 22 weeks of amenorrhea at least or if the child weighs at least 500 grams at birth. The collection comprises births in all maternity departments (public and private) over the equivalent of a week. Since the event observed is childbirth, a questionnaire is completed for each child in the case of twins, triplets or more.
