2.- Maternal deaths reported spontaneously to the confidential survey by the regional perinatal health networks. |

| Main objective |
The objectives of this survey are to:
- Collect all of the deaths of women associated with pregnancy, giving birth and post partum up to one year after giving birth, in France, including metropolitan France as well as Overseas départements. - Identify deaths of a direct or indirect obstetric cause (maternal deaths in WHO terms, Internatioanl classification of diseases-1 revision) and characterize them; - Classify and analyze the causes of mother mortality; - Calculate the crude and corrected rates of mother mortality; - Analyze in an in-depth manner the circumstances of maternal deaths and evaluate the quality of the obstetric care directly concerning the mother; - Develop the analysis of the structural elements of the organization of obstetric care. |
| Inclusion criteria | All deaths of women of childbearing age (13-59 years), for which the cause is directly or indirectly associated with the pregnancy, childbirth or subsequent to it up to one year after the end of the pregnancy, regardless of the mode of termination (abortion, miscarriage, VPT, medical abortions, giving birth) |
