Additional information regarding sample selection. Between 400 and 800 employees were enrolled at random by 50 occupational physicians representing various economic regions.
Database objective
Main objective The objectives of the study were to estimate the annual incidence rate of hypertension among the active population and to identify hypertension risk factors.

- untreated for hypertension

Procedures
Quality procedure(s) used Blood pressure was measured at 3 months at a one-minute interval following 5 minutes seated and at rest. A verified sphygmomanometer was used. If the average of three measurements was greater than 140 (SBP) or 90 mmHg (DBP), another measurement was taken after one month.
