Database objective
Main objective General objective: to investigate vascular ageing, decline in brain and cognitive function and associated factors with a longitudinal follow-up study. Secondary objective: to the determine to role of biological factors linked with oxidative stress and brain ageing.
Inclusion criteria Subjects from both genders born between 1922 and 1932 (59 to 71 years old at enrolment), included in electoral registers in Nantes, can speak French and living in Nantes.

Biological data (detail) Type of samples taken: biochemical routine assessment (enrolment, 2,4 and 9 years); dosage of different actors of oxidative stress (SE, beta-carotene, vitamin E, GSH-Px, SOD ...) (enrolment and/or at 2 years + partial assessment at 9 years); cell haematological and coagulation assessment, as well as connective tissue markers (enrolment). Determination of fatty acids in red blood cells in 346 subjects (4 years).
